Here are the links for the best smoke generators i can find, at the cheapest prices £15-20, i haven't used any of these units personally, but they should produce a good yield of smoke. keep in mind that you will have to carry a battery around with you to power it though (4/8 AA 's)

pros and cons
the 12v electric smoker require the fluid chamber to be placed above the atomizer/heat coil.

the 6v smoker seems to be a self contained unit, can be run off 4 AA's, and is refilled by "injecting" the smoke fluid.

i have ordered one off ebay, (and if you don't want it, i can use it in a remote control ship, that i am planing on building, eventually.)

or alternative
and a scent stick, will produce very little smoke.
so i suggest adding a small fan, if you want a bit of a smoke flume
